I’ve had to rebuild my village four times since becoming a mum.

When I was pregnant with my first, my husband and I had just moved to Australia. We were so excited, starting our life somewhere new and starting our family. But I knew no one.

I worked hard to find my people. I used the Peanut app, NCT-equivalents, and organised brunches just to be around other mums. I was intentionally trying to build a village because I needed one.

Then we bought a house… 45 minutes away and suddenly, I had to start again. Yes, I did visit the friends I’d made while pregnant but 45 minutes can feel epically long with a newborn. So I did it again, I found AMAZING new mums and created another little village.

Just after my second was born, my husband was offered a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to return to the UK. So we moved again. This time to North London. So for the third time, I tried to build that support network, knowing all along it wasn’t where we’d stay long-term.

A year later, we moved to Surbiton. That was two years ago. And for the fourth time, I was settling, finding my people, and rebuilding a village.

If there had been a @mammasocialco walk in any of those moments you can bet I would have been at every single one.

From my experience, these kinds of walks are one of the most valuable resources available to parents. Now my two little ones are at school and nursery Monday to Friday, but I still want to keep growing my village and help you grow yours too.

This isn’t just for people new to the area, It’s for parents new to parenthood. Becoming a parent often means recreating your network and I want it to be a little easier.

A walk along the river. A coffee. A chat. I do this as a volunteer for Mamma Social, you don't pay, just come as you are.

📍 We meet every Tuesday morning at 9:30am Surbiton side of the Queen’s Promenade, by the Sensory Garden (next to the London River Yacht Club). We walk towards Kingston and grab a coffee together ☕

We usually stick to free weekend outings… but every now and then we treat ourselves and @brooklandsmuseum was so worth it ☀️✈️🚗

Such a lovely day wandering around such a huge, open space, learning about the history of cars and airplanes, and just enjoying being out together.

The kids’ favourite parts?
🥐 Sausage rolls at the onsite cafe (because food is key always)
🛝 The playground among the airplanes
🚶‍♀️ Just wandering around!

It was such a brilliant morning and my husband doing the solo Concorde experience was a MAJOR highlight for him 🤣✈️

Oh and PS… kids under 4 go free, which is always a win!

A little rainy walk through St Andrew’s Square, Surbiton 🌧️

No playground here, but honestly, sometimes that’s exactly what you need.

The little winding paths weave and connect, making it ideal for curious little walkers to explore safely, especially on rainy days when play equipment can be slippery.

A great low-stim option for:
• early walkers
• drizzle-day outings
• short, calm outdoor breaks

One of those simple local spots that just works.

Kingston’s riverside afternoons are just around the corner… ☀️
