We are so lucky to have so many wonderful charity shops in our area, they’ve quickly become our go-to spots for books and a little peek at the toys too.

We popped into Princess Alice Hospice Charity Shop on Old London Road in Kingston. Weekdays are naturally much quieter, which made for a lovely browse!

We picked up a few books for the kids, 3 for £1 🤩 and they were Julia Donaldson books too… such a bargain!

Wander through the Hampton Court Palace Royal Gardens this weekend... for free! Pack a picnic, soak up the spring sunshine and enjoy a magical family day out 💛

- 26 December (The Wilderness garden only)

Just note that entrance to the Palace, the Maze and the Magic Garden will still require a ticket.

🌊 Okay… did you know this?!

There’s a stretch of the Thames right between Kingston and Ham that could soon become London’s first official river swimming spot!

Not a lido, not a pool… just our actual river.

📍 It’s the bit that runs along Trowlock Island, kind of near YMCA Hawker. And if it gets approved, it means regular water testing in the summer months + clearer guidance on when it’s safe to swim.

Which feels like a pretty big shift, because let’s be honest… loads of people already paddle and dip here when it’s hot, but I've felt it’s always a bit of a “should we / shouldn’t we?” situation.

This wouldn’t suddenly make it a perfectly clean swimming spot overnight, but it would mean more transparency around water quality and more pressure to improve it 👀

It’s still in consultation at the moment, but if it goes ahead… this could totally change what summer looks like around here 🌿

Picnics, paddling, maybe even proper swims?!

Somewhere between that first rainy attempt and yesterday’s sunshine… something clicked 🥹☀️

A couple of months ago we planned our first junior parkrun at Alexandra Park… and woke up to POURING rain.
He was so excited and still wanted to go so we couldn’t not try.

He didn’t finish that day.
But honestly? We were so proud of him for showing up, giving it a go, and pushing himself as far as he could 💛

We promised we’d come back when the weather was kinder…

Fast forward to yesterday ... blue skies, sunshine, and a very determined little runner.
He ran the WHOLE course without stopping 🥹👏

216 kids took part (!!) and the atmosphere was just incredible, supportive, encouraging, and such a lovely way to start a Sunday.

Post-run = coffee + treats at @coffee.otc
…and of course a stop at the playground to burn off whatever energy was somehow left 😂

Next up: trying Latchmere Recreation Ground with a friend 💛

If you’re looking for something positive, free, and genuinely feel-good to do with your kids this is IT.

Junior parkrun happens every Sunday at 9am, and there are loads of local options:
