Full Circle Moments: From Baby Classes to Pregnancy Yoga with BusyLizzy Kingston

By Alysha

There’s something special about those “full circle” moments in motherhood, the kind that make you stop and smile at how far you’ve come. For me, one of those moments happened just recently at a class.

Back in 2021, I took my very first baby class at Busy Lizzy with my oldest son. It was during those strange and quiet COVID days, when everyone had to sit two metres apart, cautious, but still craving connection. The class we joined was small, warm, and welcoming, and despite the distance, it gave me that early sense of community I didn’t know I needed. I remember thinking how kind the atmosphere felt, how gently it held new mums like me navigating those early, blurry days.

Since then, I’ve brought both my middle children to classes, sometimes consistently, sometimes when life allowed. Each visit has reminded me why I loved it in the first place. It’s always been more than just a class- it’s been a space to pause, connect, and breathe.

Fast forward to now, I’m pregnant with baby number four (yes, four!). And believe it or not, I had never tried a prenatal exercise class before. My version of antenatal “fitness” was usually pushing a double buggy uphill or walking endlessly to get naps in. I’d always meant to join something… but life was busy, and time just slipped by.

This time though, I finally did it. I went along to a pregnancy yoga class, my first ever, and I was honestly a little nervous. But from the moment I arrived, I was met with calm, kindness, and zero pressure. Cheryl, the instructor, created such a safe and nurturing space. The class wasn’t just about movement, it was about listening to our bodies, connecting with our growing bumps, and giving ourselves that rare gift: time to just be.

I couldn’t believe it took me four pregnancies to discover the power of slowing down in this way. I left the class feeling peaceful, connected, and really grateful to have carved out that moment for just me and baby, something that’s often so hard when your world revolves around the little ones already here.

If you’re a new mum, a mum-to-be, or somewhere in between, I can’t recommend these classes enough. Whether you’re taking your first baby out into the world or finally taking a moment for yourself in pregnancy, spaces like these are a gentle reminder that you’re not alone, and that taking care of yourself matters, too.

P.S the class I took is at 7pm on Thursdays at Kingston Quaker Centre, you won't regret trying it out!
