The Kingston Mums Book Club- A Cozy Spot for Local Connection (and Drama-Filled Reads!)
Nearly two years ago, while pregnant with my third baby and in the early days of launching Hello Kingston Kids, I found myself longing for something simple but powerful, real in-person connection. That’s when the idea for the Kingston Mums Book Club was born.
What started as a small meet-up with a few local mums that I found on a whatapp group in true London fashion! Has turned into a lovely community of women from Kingston, Surbiton, and surrounding areas. We meet every 8 weeks on a Tuesday evening in Kingston, sharing not just thoughts on the latest read, but laughs, stories, and a much-needed break from the chaos of everyday parenting.
Whether you’re deep into the baby years or navigating life with teens, there’s a spot for you here. New faces join us at almost every meet-up, and if you’ve been thinking of coming along, please do! Everyone is incredibly warm and welcoming. It’s a relaxed vibe, with no pressure to finish the book or bring deep literary analysis (unless you want to!).
What Do We Read?
Our taste in books is as real and varied as motherhood itself, we’ve dipped into thrillers, fiction, non-fiction, and everything in between. That said, books with a bit of drama seem to be our sweet spot!
Some of our past reads include:
• Girls by Kirsty Capes
• The Other Mothers by Katherine Faulkner
• Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid
• Never Lie by Freida McFadden
• Before the Coffee Gets Cold by Toshikazu Kawaguchi
How Do We Choose the Books?
Simple! Anyone in our WhatsApp group can drop in a recommendation, and we all vote on what we’re in the mood for next. It keeps things fresh and makes sure everyone gets a say in what we dive into.
So if you’re a local mum looking to meet some amazing women, carve out a little space for yourself, and get lost in a good book, come and join us!
And while the club was started by mums, it’s an inclusive and welcoming space, you don’t need to be a parent to join. Friends, sisters, partners, everyone is welcome! If you love a good book and want to connect with kind, friendly people, we’d love to have you.
Send an email to info@hellokingstonkids.com and I will add you in the group!
